What’s the Point of Cleaning Fees When Guests Are Asked to Do the Cleaning? [USA]

I’m planning a short trip and considering an Airbnb instead of a hotel. The nightly rate is $182 for two nights, but the total comes to about $730, with $230 listed as a cleaning fee. That part makes sense on the surface, but upon arrival I’m told I have to handle a lot of the cleaning myself: take out the trash to the dumpster, wash the dishes, launder towels we’ve used, place the sheets in the hall, and sweep the floors.

I understand hosts shouldn’t have to clean up after guests, but if I’m paying $230 specifically for cleaning, why am I being asked to start my trip early by doing all of these tasks? Can someone explain the reasoning behind this policy? And what are the consequences if a guest doesn’t complete these cleaning duties?
