Front Desk Security Incident: Unannounced Room Entry by Hotel Staff Member and Guest

An overnight business trip led to a troubling experience at a hotel. After settling into my room, I was relaxing when the door suddenly swung open. A man entered the room, smiling as he noticed me, paused, and uttered “oh.” I asked if he needed something, and moments later the front desk employee peeked in and said, “oh sorry we were just… checking on something.” They closed the door shortly afterward. I’m left wondering what happened, and what steps I should take next.
