General Question for Hosts: Why Are Towel Provisions So Limited?
I recently stayed at a few rental properties and noticed a common pattern: guests are often given only a single towel and a single washcloth for multiple days. In one instance, there wasn’t even a washcloth available. I understand the concerns about guests using an excessive number of towels, but is it truly necessary to limit washing to one towel per person over several days? Wouldn’t providing a few more towels per stay make for a more comfortable experience without drastically increasing maintenance costs?
Here are a few thoughts to consider for host practices and guest expectations:
– Practicality vs. sustainability: Striking a balance between practical needs (ample towels for comfort) and sustainable operations (reduced water and energy use) can be challenging, but achievable with a reasonable towel supply.
– Clear guidelines: Outlining towel usage and wash-in schedules in the listing can help set expectations and reduce confusion.
– Guest experience: Providing enough towels can significantly improve guest satisfaction, reviews, and repeat bookings.
– Alternative solutions: Offering extra towels on request, or implementing a towel exchange program mid-stay, can address both comfort and efficiency concerns.
If you’re a property host, what towel provisions have worked best for you? And fellow travelers, what towel standards have you found most reasonable or most frustrating?
