Title: How a Clear Price Breakdown Could Improve Search Filters for Realistic Booking Costs

A common pain point for travelers is the mismatch between map-highlighted deals and the actual total price once all fees are added. The current search experience often makes it difficult to compare options when fees are variable and not standardized, leading to a lot of time spent checking listings that appear affordable on the map but end up with much higher totals at checkout.

For example, consider a Baltimore listing that shows a low nightly rate of $29 on the map, but when you add in cleaning fees, service fees, and occupancy taxes, the total comes to around $76. The lack of a consistent, upfront price breakdown makes it hard to assess true value and budget accordingly.

What would help is a search filter that presents actual total prices, including all mandatory fees, in the same display as the base rate. If users could see the final price at a glance—without having to open each listing or scroll through the breakdown—it would streamline comparisons and ensure transparency. A standardized, per-listing price that includes all charges would minimize confusion and improve trust in the browsing experience.
